If you don't know what that is, here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrocardiogram

Since all my blood work came back negative, the doctor scheduled an appointment for me at the Hospital on Tuesday(Which means I get to miss the last two hours of school, yay!), to get an ECG/EKG done.

I'm nervous, though, because I don't even really know what it's for and how long it takes.

Has anyone ever had one before?

Not personally. They don't hurt at all, just have lots of patches to go on your chest, and then the output of the electrical activity is printed straight onto paper.

The results can be analysed immediately as the doctor can interpret the waves, the distances and the sizes, if one of them is inverted, etc.

Good luck, hope it goes well!

Nothing to be nervous about.  It is completely painless, no needles, no scary machines.  They place censors on your stomach and chest, and merely measure your heartbeat and blood flow.  Lets put it this way.  You could easily fall asleep during.  It should only take a few minutes.  When I had one done, it took about 15 minutes, from setting up the machine to completely done.

i had one two weeks ago. you jsut lay on your side with your shirt off and patches on your chest and they move this little lubed up ultrasound thing around your chest and ribs and such, and there a littel screen that shows rhythems and video of the inside of your heart. pretty interesting.

I had a very extensive ECG before joining the Marine Corps because they thought I had a heart murmur.

Honestly it's kind of fun if you talk to your doctor and if you are in a position where you can see the screen. I'm an asshole so I basically made the guy explain every part of the heart to me and how everything was working and how good my heart was compared to others he'd seen (apparently very, but then again most ECG are done on old ass people so I doubt he had much to compare with).
